Zalando opens an automated distribution center for the Nordic countries

– ZALANDO OPENS AN AUTOMATED DISTRIBUTION CENTER – 

The e-trader Zalando has co-constructed with his partner Ingram Micro a new automated distribution center in Sweden dedicated to orders from the Nordic countries.

Zalando has unveiled its first Nordic warehouse, in partnership with its partner Ingram Micro, which offers a full range of technological and logistical services to companies trading on this territory. Located in Brunna, near Stockholm, Sweden, the new logistics center covers 30,000 m² and enjoys a strategic position in the Nordic countries.

Entirely dedicated to the management of orders in these territories, its location responds to the strong demand from customers in this region and allows the e-commerce player to deliver its customers on D + 1 in the Nordic capitals, and the same day in Stockholm.

“The Nordic countries are one of the fastest growing regions for Zalando. To maintain this momentum, we must get closer to our customers in this area. By opening a satellite warehouse in Sweden, we are providing them with a wide range of products within a limited time frame, key elements in the pursuit of our development, " says Kenneth Melchior, Director Northern Europe at Zalando.

An automated logistics center

The new logistics center, equipped with the latest automation technologies, optimizes outgoing package processing and adapts in real time to stock forecasts and demand peaks. The 500 employees of the site are accompanied by about fifty independent mobile robots GreyOrange. The system put in place aims to improve performance to achieve its growth objectives while accompanying and facilitating the manual work of operators.
