Flandr'œufs automates its packaging centre with Transitic

To optimise its performance, Flandr’œufs asked Transitic to equip its packaging centre with a complete system of conveyors and automatic machines. This system ensures that the eggs are transported, identified and packed with the utmost respect for the product.

After a first collaboration in 2019, Flandr’œufs  once again chose Transitic to equip its 12,000 m² packaging centre in Wormhout, near Dunkirk. Faced with an increase in their production, Paul and Victor Carton, brothers and managing partners of the company, were looking for a scalable and automated solution to absorb the growing number of eggs while improving the working comfort of their operators.

The client

Created 60 years ago, Flandr’oeufs is a family company based in the North of France. Over the years, it has become a key player in egg production in the Northern region and in Belgium. Each year, Flandr’oeufs produces, packages and distributes hundreds of millions of eggs intended for mass distribution, catering or wholesalers.

The project

Automated processes for increased comfort and productivity

The project focused on improving overall performance by enhancing product traceability and automating work processes. Energy consumption was taken into account right from the project's design stage, so as to provide Flandre'oeufs with an installation that is sustainable, energy-efficient and scalable. All the systems are now controlled by our Open WCS software suite, which coordinates the various operations in real time.

An automated conveyor network for maximized output

Our teams deployed a network of 300 meters of conveyors spread over two separate production lines and covering an area of 3,600 m². These converge towards an identification and packaging area made up of 6 labelers and two automatic sealers. The conveyors then transport the cartons towards a sorting comb where they are dispatched to two palletizing robots for loading into the trucks.

Ergonomics at the heart of the project

Transitic has worked on the ergonomics of the 14 workstations in the warehouse located at the exit of the grading machines: modules are lowered automatically to allow operators to evacuate the cartons to the conveyor without having to carry them.

Since the installation was commissioned, each production line has been able to process 100,000 eggs per hour. Furthermore, our operators have undeniably gained in terms of working comfort.

Installation that respects the product

Transitic has paid particular attention to the fluidity of its mechanisms and processes to ensure the eggs are transported smoothly. For example, the conveyor network includes several belt sections to ensure that the cartons are perfectly stable when ascending and descending. Our teams opted for motorised rollers and transfer modules specially designed to avoid the risk of breakage during conveyance and redirection.

Made up of stainless steel conveyors, the installation scrupulously complies with food industry standards, with the emphasis on easy cleaning and maintenance of the systems.
