The client

Founded in 1897, SAVERGLASS specialises in the manufacture of top-of-the-range glass bottles. The modernisation of the historic site will enable to respond better to growing customer demand.

The project

To improve working conditions for its operators and increase productivity, SAVERGLASS wanted to automate the transfer of cartons from the inspection and packaging stations to the palletising, sealing and automatic labelling area. The constraints were as follows: the solution had to be reliable, as it had to be installed in a relatively hot, demanding environment and operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In addition, the customer has limited space available and has major traffic requirements in the area where the system is installed. Finally, the installation had to be carried out without stopping production.

The solution

On leaving the annealing arch, the glass bottles are inspected by operators who pack them into cartons which are then removed by vertical conveyors. The cartons continue to be conveyed upwards, passing over the arch exit conveyor, thus freeing up space on the floor.

A final vertical conveyor takes them down to a taping machine. The boxes are then labelled before going to their palletising area. Once the work had started, TRANSITIC’s teams were flexible and responsive to minimise disruption to the customer’s production.
