Transitic x Fratelli Esposito
Implementation of a Large Multi-Technology Overhead Conveyor Network in Collaboration with MACPI
Project
Installation of an Automated Overhead Conveyor Network
Client
Fratelli Esposito
Location
Naples, Italy
The client
Fratelli Esposito Import Export Srl is a key player in the recovery, management, and export of second-hand clothing in the Naples region. With over 40 years of experience, the company processes more than 100 tons of used textiles and shoes every day, giving them a second life.
Fratelli Esposito’s production was previously limited by manual methods used at every stage of the process. Garments on hangers were transported by linear conveyors without accumulation capacity, creating strong interdependence between workstations and a high risk of production flow disruption in case of a breakdown.
This rigidity also limited responsiveness during peak activity periods and prevented real-time monitoring of production.
The Solution
For this transformation project, TRANSITIC collaborated with On Time Systems GmbH and Macpi Group, a leader in apparel industry equipment. The main objectives were to:
Ensure precise transport, control, and sorting of garments.
01
Optimize coordination between workstations and reconditioning operations.
02
Provide customized handling for each type of fabric.
03
Automate steaming and bagging operations.
04
To achieve these goals, Transitic implemented a network of overhead conveyors and storage areas combining the latest Garments on Hanger (GoH) technologies:
CLIP Conveyors
They ensure garment buffering, preventing accumulation and guaranteeing a smooth, continuous flow.
PIN Conveyors
They enable high-speed garment transport, particularly in vertical transfer zones.
LADDER Conveyors
They allow unit transport of hangers, ensuring perfect traceability and real-time tracking.
Gravity Conveyors
They serve as links between automated conveyors and storage zones.
Each conveyor is equipped with saturation sensors that automatically regulate flow and prevent congestion. The upstream and downstream storage areas have a total capacity of over 6,000 items.
Centralized control through the HMI (Human-Machine Interface) simplifies supervision, instantly flags any incident, and ensures quick and safe recovery.
The transition to automation will provide Fratelli Esposito with a fast return on investment (ROI) — estimated at around two years — driven by a series of operational improvements.
